    Mother's Day Tea

Another year has passed and it is time again to plan a tea party for that special person your mom. What can you do to make this day extra special for her?

Tea, Mom and her special day

Surprise you mother with breakfast in bed, conspire with dad to help you to prepare her favorite leaf tea; make her special recipe of her favorite scones or try something new. Have dad help you try your hand at French toast with cinnamon and maple syrup. Serve some fresh fruit like sweet sliced oranges or mixed melons. Use cloth napkins and your mom’s best tea service, and don’t forget to adorn her breakfast tray with flowers. A single rose, a tulip or carnation will surely bring a smile to her face. Have dad help you carry the breakfast try into mom’s room.

If some years have passed and you are a mother too, your children will want to make it a special day for you as well. Switch from a breakfast tea party to a tea brunch at your own home. If your children are too young to make a breakfast/lunch meal themselves dad and granddad should be able to help. (You could even prebake a breakfast casserole ahead of time that dad will help the children finish on the special day.) Suggest to dad and granddad that they prepare two or three loose tea flavors, one of which should be a hearty English Breakfast. Prepare a plan that dad can easily follow with step by step instructions. Although for many men today this will not be necessary. I find they love to cook and even create new dishes.
