This loose leaf herbal tea can help parents with child obesity prevention

overweight child

How many parents are aware of the health benefits of Rooibos leaf tea. This loose tea or tisane can help parents start children very early to choose healthy beverages and foods. This drink is healthy for kids.

How many parents when holding their new babies see child obesity in the future?

Do you think they look beyond child obesity into the future and see an obese adult with health problems? Do they envision high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems or stroke at any point in their child’s lifetime?

None of us as parents see a future like this. Instead we think rosy cheeks, beauty and strength. We see a sweet child. Everything will be perfect for this sweet child of ours.

Visions of the future

Often new parents have already looked into and planned how they will fund the best education possible for this wonderful new addition to the family.

Mothers may be seeing in their minds eye the wedding they will someday help plan for a daughter. The beautiful dress she may wear, how her hair will be styled.

New parents are only thinking good things for their babies. Child obesity is not entering their mind.

In the earliest days all doctors’ recommendations are followed closely. Nursing or feeding their child at regular intervals and introducing new foods slowly.

Things start changing

When we as parents give a child that first drink of soda are we looking at the big picture? Do we realize we may be sending them down a path that leads to child obesity and health problems? What makes us give our children junk food? It’s almost as if “no child left behind” applies to junk food as well as education. Rooibos tea would be a better choice of beverages to introduce.

High fructose corn syrup

What about a better alternative? The juice box may be convenient, but how much juice is in the liquid 10%? When reading labels we often find high fructose corn syrup used in products today. High fructose corn syrup is felt to be a contributing factor in the national problem of child obesity as well as adult obesity.

Rooibos leaf herbal tea is something better, something healthy

Parents can offer their children something better for their health. In very young children we may offer Rooibos leaf tea.

Rooibos is a tisane and it is healthy for kids. Tisanes are not really teas and that's why they don't contain caffeine. Tea comes from the leaves of the camellia sinensis plant. Rooibos is processed just as leaf tea but it is the leaves of the African Red Bush. It is known as an herbal tea or tisane.

Good stuff in there

We will find elements such as Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium, Vitamin C and Fluoride in Rooibos leaf tea.

Did you notice that it has Fluoride? That means serving your children Rooibos leaf tea promotes healthy teeth. Soda with loads of sugar promotes tooth decay.

All natural

It contains no colors, additives or preservatives; this makes it a completely natural beverage.

Rooibos leaf tea contains no caffeine.

According to studies conducted in South Africa Rooibos has been shown to aid in health problems. These problems includes things such as insomnia, irritability, headaches, nervous tension, allergies and hypertension.

It can even be given to babies who are suffering with colic safely.

It is up to us

As a parent we set the example and teach our children. Let’s give them a better start in life. Let’s serve them Rooibos leaf tea instead of soda or sugar laden juice.

As they grow teach your children about good nutrition and give them healthy meals and snacks. Encourage your children to be active, exercise is important. Find a fun activity that your child will do. Tennis, swimming, dancing and walking are all things a child can start very young and do all their life.

Parents must cut out the junk food. Don’t wait until your children are in their teens when habits are already formed. Start them on the best path to health when they are that sweet child.
