I read your site and Face Book blog daily. So, thought I just had to share my afternoon tea birthday experience. There are seven of us that meet every year to celebrate our birthdays. And, we meet at the Blue Butterfly several times a year.
There are several of us that travel for Northeast Pennsylvania and a few from the city of Philadelphia, so we all look forward to this very unique place.
This tea room is a place to make memories with friends, to thrill a little girl or to have an elegant afternoon tea wedding party.
There are several rooms to this establishment. The large room with the crystal chandelier and stained glass windows, of course will stand out in everyone's memory for a large event.
The three smaller rooms are the Sun Porch Tea Room, The Garden Gazebo and the Doll's Tea Room. The atmosphere and the menu will take you back to another time.
Each table is set with mismatched plates and tea cups. Each table has a small plate with a few cubes of individually decorated sugar. There has been much attention paid to detail to give you the best possible experience.
You better be hungry and plan on staying for a leisurely meal. The Tea luncheon menu is an event at the Blue Butterfly.
The Tea Luncheon includes a cup of soup, biscuits and scones served with Devonshire Cream, fruit perseveres and strawberry butter. That is followed by a a side salad of either a fruit fluff or savory gelatin salad. The "moisture" is your choice of hot teas. Along with the side salad is the entree.
Just when you think you cannot eat another bite, the waitress brings out an assortment of delicate pastries and a offers you a handmade mint,to aid your digestion and pleasantly finish your meal.
We have been going for the Tea luncheon for years and have never been disappointed. The tea sandwiches are served in a creative way, piled high and held together with toothpicks. Each sandwich top beautifully decorated with cream cheese flowers.
I enjoyed the French Apple Quiche and the Chicken Broccoli Crepe as my entree. Both were served hot from the oven and very good.
Of course, the scones and biscuits were light and delicate and delightful.
The desserts are absolutely beautiful and very tempting. We all laughed when the waitress said you could pick two! We graciously declined and took one.
If you are ever in the northeast part of Pennsylvania, I would recommend stopping by. It will be worth it!
