A real iced tea, enjoy hydrating your body

A real iced tea hydrates the body as effectively as water with the added benefits of antioxidants

a real iced teaA real iced tea drink is always a refreshing way to enjoy loose leaf tea. The history of iced tea gives credit to America as being the first to introduce the iced tea drink.

Today there are so many varieties of tea within a tea type to choose from. Here's an example Assam and Ceylon are just two varieties in the black tea arena.

Those tea varieties may have been blended with other ingredients to produce yet another tea. Example for years I enjoyed drinking Bigalow Constant Comment tea (in my days before discovering the loose leaf).

Iced tea recipe using orange spice teas

Today I have made my own ice tea recipe using black loose leaf tea to mimic Constant Comment tea.

Orange spice teaorange spice tea

4 Cups of boiling water
3 Tablespoons of black loose leaf tea (Ceylon, Assam, Darjeeling etc.)
Dried orange peel (I save the peel when I have eaten an orange)
6 Whole cloves
Sugar to taste (optional)
4 Cups of very cold

Put filtered water on to boil.
Fill a tea ball or sock by placing the black loose leaf tea and spices in it. Put the tea ball into another container.
Pour the water over the loose leaves and time for 4 to 5 minutes
Remove the tea sock
If you choose to add sugar do it now and stir until sugar is dissolved
Add the cold water
(I often add the a clove and orange peel to the glass, both for garnish and taste)

Skewers (purchased at the grocery store)
Blueberries and raspberries for garnish

Bring filtered water to a boil in a kettle
Place loose leaf blueberry tea into an infuser and place in a pot large enough to hold 3 quarts of liquid
Pour the water over the leaf tea when it is heated
Time the tea for 4 to 5 minutes (no longer than 5)
Add the sugar while the liquid is very hot stirring until it dissolves
Add ice water
Wash berries and make a skewer of fruit alternating berries

To serve fill tall iced tea glasses with ice, pour the blueberry iced tea in the glass. Garnish with the fruit skewers.

Add these to your collection of cold drinks and let us know what you think
