Candy Cane Christmas Tea

Tea Note Speaker - Thanksgiving 2010 Issue

Editors Note
From the Editors Desk

In the 1621 pilgrims celebrated a successful harvest and many think of this as the first Thanksgiving Day.

It was actually President Abraham Lincoln who began the tradition of an annual national Thanksgiving in 1863.

It is a good tradition, having a day to reflect. Many of us have problems and we must find ways to cope with them. One of the ways I do this is to sit down and think of all the many things I have to be thankful for. This helps put things into prospective for me and then I am ready to tackle a problem and search for answers.

Family, friends, health, a roof over my head and food to eat: I often take these things for granted. Thanksgiving is the traditional day all of us remembered we are blessed to have them.

What comes next is a hectic busy holiday season with what is called Black Friday. Retailers unveil an array of sales to entice buyers to their stores.

This year the holiday frenzy started before our day of thanks. The TV has been bombarding us with special offers to start shopping early. I’m expeting for holiday sales and shopping to start in June eventually.

I love this time of year because I do it my way. I love the scents of fall and winter and I love the family gatherings.

My plan will be to avoid the holiday crowds as I did last year and let my fingers do the searching for the perfect items for each person I care about.

Amazon here I come, and for my tea loving friends Adagio tops my list. I will be curled up with the good book I’m reading on my Kindle, keeping warm while sipping my favorite chai tea.

It will be so much better than being pushed and shoved at the mall.

To you, our readers and friends the staff at Your Cup of Tea sends warm wishes for a day of thanks to you and your families.
