A St. Patrick’s Day Tea Party

Did you know that tea is the favorite drink of the Irish people? It is followed by a very close second to the stout Irish beer, Guinness. The people of Ireland consume more tea per capita than any country in the world. The Irish love their tea.

St. Patrick’s Day is the holiday when everyone feels Irish. It is a time for celebration. It is a time for watching Irish dance and listening to Irish music.

Hosting a tea party for St. Patrick’s Day is a great way to honor or learn about the Irish traditions and have fun with friends.

Don’t forget to share your pictures and stories of you parties with us here.

The health benefits of Drinking Parsley Tea

Do you know the benefits of parsley tea? This was used as one of the common herbal tea remedies in the past. Do you plan to grow parsley in your herb garden this year.

Parsley tea has been used for its therapeutic properties for centuries. The parsley plant, also known as Petroselinum crispus, is the most easily identified of all herbs. It name is from the Greek word meaning "rock celery" (it is a relative of celery).

It can be found in the produce departments around the world. This is probably the most familiar garnish used for on plates. There are two common varieties of parsley: curly and flat leaf (Italian) parsley. The Italian variety is more fragrant and has less bitter taste than the curly variety.

Tell us about your gardening plans for this years herb garden. Will you plan include planting parsley?

Free Containers for Seed Starting in Your Apartment Container Garden

Speaking of parsley the growing season is heading our way, it's got to warm up some time. It's time to start planning our gardens, whether they be planted in your yard or in containers on your window boxes or terraces.

I came accross an article that you will find intersting and useful.

Growing a plant from a seed can be very exciting, especially when the plant first breaks through the soil to spread its leaves. It's nearly as exciting as having a child, but costs less and requires less of a commitment! To grow and apartment container garden you need containers to start growing seeds in. Here are some free or very low cost containers.

Egg Cartons are handy because they're already divided into small little pots. You can grow a dozen different plants or start a dozen of the same one all in one easy to handle container. The downside is that they don't give much room to the new plants, so you'll have to transplant them very early on. Also be careful watering - they can leak and even fall apart if too wet (unless you can still find styrofoam egg cartons).

Milk Jugs and Cartons work great but it can take some time to collect enough of them. Simply rinse them out and cut off the tops. You can also use single-serving milk cartons that you or your children might drink every day.

Plastic and Paper Cups are very cheap to buy, but what about all the ones that get thrown out at work? You could ask your coworkers to rinse out their cups and set them aside for you, or just take a quick look through the trash yourself. Tell people your helping make the office more green!

I'm sure you can find other containers around your home that would work well for starting seeds. Take a look around and use your imagination!

Ryan Henry grew up gardening with his parents but needed to find a new way to do it when he moved out on his own. He runs the web site Urban Garden Growing.
