My husband just returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. While he was over there he was often treated to brewed hot black tea that had cardamon in it. He really enjoyed it and makes it for me now that he is home.
He takes a pod or two of cardamon and uses a mortar and pestle and roughly crushes the cardamon. He then brews it with the black loose leaf tea leaves as usual. He strains it and serves it with milk and sugar the way it was served to him in Afghanistan.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Emily,
First, thank your husband for his service to our country. We are very appreciative for his efforts that allow us to enjoy our freedom.
Thank him for this delicious recipe, as well. I love cardamon and with black tea it is just wonderful.
