You can make fruit iced tea by making a few changes to our black iced tea recipe. One of my family's favorites is one I have made for many years. I call it Tea Sangria and the recipe follows.
Iced Tea Sangria
8 C Freshly boiled filtered water
6 Tablespoons black loose leaf tea
Sugar to taste (optional)
8 Cups very cold or ice water
1/2 lemon or to taste
1/2 orange or to taste
1/2 lime or to taste
Pour the water over the loose leaf tea
Time for 4 minutes
Remove the loose tea leaves
If your are adding sugar do it at this time and stir to dissolve
Add the cold water
|NOTE: To make a tea sock large enough to make tea for several people use a new white pair of panty hose that have been washed. Cut one leg off and leave it long enough to have enough room for the tea leaves to open and release their flavor.|
Add all the fruit last it is not necessary to slice it
Allow these flavors to meld together for best taste results
Just before serving, garnish the iced tea glasses with fresh fruit slices.
|Tip: If there is some tea left the next day remove the fruit or it will over power the taste |

Mango Iced Tea
(This is Bobby Flay's recipe from his TV show, Boy Meets Grill)
1 1/2 quarts cold water
6 high quality black tea bags
2 cups mango nectar
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
Thinly sliced mango
Bring water to a boil, turn off heat add tea bags and steep until tea is dark, about 5 minutes. Remove bags, add mango nectar and add sugar, to taste. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Place in pitcher and add mint leaves. Pour over ice and garnish with mango slices.
To adjust this recipe to use loose leaf black tea measure 2 tablespoons of black loose leaf tea into an infuser. Place the infuser into the boiling water.
Give these a try and report in on what you think
