Fennel Tea and Herbal Tea Recipes

Fennel tea or fennel seed tea is pleasant tasting and aromatic. Here are three cups of tea that are a twist on this herbal tea. Herbal tea remedies do not have to be unpleasant to be healthy.

Making Fennel Seed Tea:

Bruise the seeds in a mortar and pestle to release the essential oil just before brewing. Bring the water to a boil and then add the fennel seeds. Allow the mixture to steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not boil the water with the seeds in it. Instead, add seeds to the boiling water to preserve the natural oils. Keep the pot covered while steeping. Cool the herbal tea and strain before serving.

Fennel Tea with Cardamom:

Bruise the seeds in a mortar and pestle to release the essential oil just before brewing. Boil the water and add the seeds and cardamon. Steep the fennel and cardamom for 4-6 minutes, add honey or sugar, if desired. A splash of lemon or orange is also a nice touch. Strain tea prior to serving.

Fennel Tea with an Orange Twist:

Bruise the seeds in a mortar and pestle to release the essential oil just before brewing. Place the crushed fennel seeds in a cup and pour over boiling water. Cover and leave to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain before pouring. Add the lemon or orange rind for extra flavor.
