Can Anyone Help Solve This Mystery

by Lori

I love your website! Can you please answer a question for me?

I purchased 2 sets of Royal Albert Memory Lane Cups/saucers from 2 different sellers on Ebay. One set doesn't have the "c Royal Albert Ltd 1965" right under the backstamp and the other does. The one that doesn't have it seems thinner and not as good in quality. Can you please tell me what the difference is between the sets?

Hi Lori

I'm glad you enjoy visiting our website, it's always nice to receive a compliment. I'm afraid I am at a loss to answer your question. I will look into it for you, but in the meantime maybe one of our readers will know the answer. Royal Albert is a favorite of many surely someone will have some information for you.

Hi Lori,

I would suggest that they are probably different ages (i.e. one made in 1930 and the other in 1970). I have several Royal Albert pieces - all Blossom Time, and there are 4 different backstamps that I know of, also the first one I got (and the oldest one I have) is alot finer that the newer stuff. Also if the older set has been used, the print can wear and give the impression of not being as good a quality.

Not sure if this is possible, but if you can post some pics I can help you age them?

Nell
